Underground storage facility

We store natural gas in the Dambořice UGS complex. The underground structures there were created naturally and today, thanks to state-of-the-art technology, we can store gas quickly, flexibly and exactly as our customers need it.

Natural gas can be stored underground due to the geological structure in which the oil was originally located. After our parent company partially extracted it, pore space in the reservoir rock - sandstone - became available. Now, natural gas can be injected into this space, stored there and later withdrawn.

Dambořice UGS complex
The Dambořice underground gas storage facility consists of one underground storage structure. Based on the interpretation of 3D seismic research, we have built three-dimensional reservoir models. This allows us to store gas in the original oil reservoir to support ongoing oil production and, more importantly, to store gas efficiently in this structure. We regularly update the model with new geological data and operational and production data.

Advantages of the Dambořice UGS complex:

  • The most modern gas storage facility in Central Europe
  • Coverage of 12% of the current storage capacity in the Czech Republic
  • Suitable storage structure parameters for superior flexibility
  • High performance operational probes
  • Automated operation using state-of-the-art technology
  • Focus on safety, efficiency and long-term sustainability

The transfer point for the physical delivery of gas from/to the transmission system is the Brumovice metering station, where the quantity of transported gas and its quality parameters are measured.
